PRESS RELEASE:
Karlsruher Messe- und Kongress-GmbH creates an independent showcase in 2009
for applied arts in Europe
New International Fair for Applied Arts + Design shall be a leading trade fair
for applied arts + design in Europe
The Karlsruher Messe- und Kongress-GmbH (Trade Fair and Conference Company, Karlsruhe) intends to set a theme with a new fair project that particularly stands for style, art of living and individuality.
In June 2009, a new International Fair for Applied Arts + Design will start up, and will also be developed into a leading market platform for the elite of the applied arts sector in Europe.
The European applied arts professional scene is committed to this project. As ideal responsible bodies, the World Crafts Council-Europe (the Europe-wide consortium of applied arts federations) as well as the Bund der Kunsthandwerker Baden-Wuerttemberg e.V. (Craftspeople Association of Baden-Wuerttemberg), the Berufsverband Kunsthandwerk Rheinland-Pfalz e.V. (Professional Association of craftspeople in Rhineland-Palatinate) and the Berufsverband Angewandte Kunst Hessen e.V. (Association for the Applied Arts in Hesse) support this project - which is intending to create an independent showcase in Karlsruhe featuring European charisma for craftspeople from all over Europe.
“Applied arts” - the quality claim of the fair project and its exhibitors is exemplified with this term.
A jury shall also contribute to transforming the new trade fair into a recognised quality forum for the European applied arts elite.
The goal of the event is to strengthen the public perception for applied arts & design-led crafts, and to develop new purchasing classes with purchasing power for the applied arts. Moreover, it should also reach collectors of applied arts as visitors of the fair.
The fair will start with a “private view” evening. Within the framework of the subsequent specialised trade-visitor days, interest should be aroused amongst the fair visitors for an interesting niche with regard to profiling their business. Two fair days will then be devoted to the interested general public.
In addition, the new fair is conceived as a meeting place for design-oriented craftspeople from all over Europe. The fair will be divided into the exhibition areas Interior Design, Jewellery & Silver and Fashion. As a result, the fair will impressively exhibit the great range of utilisation areas for contemporary applied arts.
