Guldagergaard is an international research center for development of ceramic art. The center is the studio department of the Museum of International Ceramic Art - Denmark.
Professional artists from all over the world can apply to work in the studios and accomplish a specific project. The facilities and international atmosphere at Guldagergaard offer a fine opportunity for concentrated work and for exploring new ideas, techniques, materials, and firings.
In addition to the residency program the center has a thematic program for international and Danish artists in the form of seminars, lectures and workshops.
Assistantships for students are available, and the center functions as a research studio for international students from art, craft and design schools and universities.
Guldagergaard is a non-profit foundation. It is partially funded by the local Town and County Councils.
A ceramic advisory board plans the projects, workshops and seminars, invites guest artists according to themes, and evaluates all the applications for the artist-in-residence program.
The artist-in-residence program is intended for artists who wish to work independently in the studios.
Residencies may last for a period of one to six months. Residencies are only available by application.
Applications for the program should be made at least two months before the requested time period.
Applicants for the program may want to consider the thematic programs that interest them, when scheduling their residency.
In 2004, the fee for studio space and housing at Guldagergaard is DKr. 2500,- per month.
Euro: 200 for studio space + 140 for double room per month (exchange rate: USD/Euro 1:7,5 DKr.).

Guest artists are invited by the ceramic Advisory Board at Guldagergaard to work in the studios and accomplish their own projects. All guest artists present their work at a workshop or seminar, and give a public lecture. Each guest artist donates one or two pieces of their work to the ceramic studio collection.
Workshops and seminars provide an opportunity for learning about specific techniques. They are based on conceptual themes and provide an opportunity for inquiry and discussion. Application and registration for workshops and seminars should be made four weeks before the starting date of the event.

In this building, there are also plaster and glaze rooms, electric kilns, storage room, photo studio, slide lecture room, and the studio of the technical assistant.
The outdoor kiln area has two gas kilns, and five wood fired kilns: bourry-box, cross-draught, two fast-fire wood kilns, and a soda-wood kiln, a raku gas kiln and a place for pit-firing.

International Ceramics Studio
The International Ceramics Studio has been selected as one of the recipient centres for the NCECA Artist in Residency sponsored scheme. NCECA (National Association for Education in the Ceramic Arts), perhaps the world's largest ceramic association will be sending two resident artists to work at the ICS in 2004. Visit the NCECA website.
They are also associated with the US based Lighton Foundation who will be sponsoring two artists in residence each year for the next three years.
The ICS is a ceramic art centre located eighty kilometres south of the Hungarian capital, Budapest. The centre was created over 25 years ago on the initiative of Hungarian artists who had felt culturally and ideologically isolated by the political system of that time. It was the wish for freedom and the desire to work alongside international artists that led to the founding of the centre. Since its establishment it has welcomed over 350 artists from all corners of the world, and boasts an impressive collection of over 3000 works of contemporary ceramics in its recently opened museum.
The mission of the studio is to promote the formal, aesthetic and technical development of ceramics and to help foster creative skills. The studio is open to all challenges of ceramic research, design and experiment. With this in mind the ICS offers modern facilities and kilns, ample studio space and technical support.
The International Ceramics Studio is a non-profit making organisation patially funded by the town and county councils.
